Many of us live with pain. For those who live with a lot of pain much time is spent looking for the next gadget or new treatment that will solve the problem.
Often the mindset is the more expensive, complicated or technological it is the better it will work. I know this first hand. I lived with chronic pain for a very long time. And sometimes it does take a good hit to our wallet to find the ultimate solution.
But, we get so caught up in the big things, it’s easy to overlook the basics.
Seventeen years ago, in the midst of pain, I discovered a float tank. An hour in the dark, gently cradled in salt and water was what I needed to get my life back for a few months. It wasn’t a long term solution, but if I could have found a float tank for consistent floats I have a feeling my life would have been very different.
Without a fancy machine, pharmaceuticals or surgery there were two months were I was productive, spent more time with friends, was kinder to my family, laughed and smiled a little more often.
Salt, water and the dark. Simple and basic. Sometimes that’s all it takes.
What would you do if you could move better, didn’t start the morning with stress sitting in your stomach like a rock, felt a little less pain and had a little more energy? Let’s get back to the basics.
